DARKHORSE Battalion
The City of Laguna Hills adopted the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, of the 1st Marine Division. This infantry battalion, nicknamed "DARKHORSE" is based out of Camp Pendleton. The City of Laguna Hills intends to donate $10,000 in race proceeds to the 3/5 Support Committee.
From inception, Team Darkhorse’s mission included support of various kinds for Darkhorse combat veterans of the Afghanistan war. Many 3/5 Combat veterans are repeat runners of the city’s annual race, others have served as the Grand Marshal for the past 7 years, many have been present at community events in our city. The bonds we have built created a line of communication that we rely upon for insight into the best ways to connect our community with our hardworking Marines.

South County Outreach
The City of Laguna Hills and South County Outreach will be partnering in a Food Drive over the Memorial Day Weekend. Race participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help families, individuals, and seniors in our community.
Bring any non-perishable food items, schools supplies or new backpack to packet pickup or race morning to donate. Look for SCO collection stations.
A portion of the proceeds benefit South County Outreach. SCO is dedicated to helping families, seniors who are in crisis
For more than 30 years, South County Outreach (a non-profit organization) has been a leader in the fight to end hunger and homelessness in Orange County. They believe that helping people help themselves is the most effective way to build a self-sustaining community. Through the implementation of programs like their Housing Program that offers transitional, affordable, and preventative services for at-risk households, along with their Food Pantry, which distributes more than 800,000 lbs. of food and keeps nearly 2,500 children fed each year, South County Outreach continues to work towards housing hope and ending hunger in our community. South County Outreach envisions an Orange County where no one goes to bed hungry or without a place to call home. If you know someone in need of food and they live within the cities of Irvine, down south to San Clemente, please tell them to call 949 380-8144 X207 for more information.
