The City of Laguna Hills adopted the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, of the 1st Marine Division. This infantry battalion, nicknamed "DARKHORSE" is based out of Camp Pendleton. The City of Laguna Hills intends to donate $3 per race participant to the 3/5 Support Committee.

The City of Laguna Hills and South County Outreach will be partnering in a Food Drive over the Memorial Day Weekend. Race participants and spectators are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items they really help our clients facing hard times. We also have a computer learning lab and appreciate donations of functioning laptops, printers and accessories. Each August we also provide about 1,000 back-to-school backpacks to our young clients and are happy to accept donated school supplies and backpacks. which will benefit South County Outreach. Collection stations will be available at the race start line and the community expo on May 29th and at the Road Runner Sports, Laguna Hills during registration and pre-race packet pick up on Saturday, May 27th and Sunday, May 28th from 11:00am – 4:00pm both days.

  South County Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income families, seniors and individuals in crisis. Services include food distribution (up to one week a month of groceries), rental and utility assistance, computer training, clothing vouchers and financial coaching. SCO's goal is not only to provide emergency services but to provide the tools to help people help themselves.
